Significant Financial Support for Flood-Affected States
The central government has approved the release of ₹1,066.80 crore to assist states afflicted by severe floods and landslides. This financial aid specifically targets the states of Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Kerala, and Uttarakhand, which have faced extreme rainfall and subsequent natural disasters during this year’s southwest monsoon.
State Allocations from the Central Disaster Response Fund
Among these states, Assam has received the largest share, with ₹375.60 crore allocated for recovery and relief efforts. Other allocations include ₹29.20 crore for Manipur, ₹30.40 crore for Meghalaya, ₹22.80 crore for Mizoram, ₹153.20 crore for Kerala, and ₹455.60 crore for Uttarakhand. These funds, drawn from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), underscore the government’s commitment to addressing the urgent needs of populations impacted by disastrous weather events.

The Modi Government’s Commitment
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the central government reaffirms its dedication to providing comprehensive assistance to the flood- and landslide-affected regions. In addition to the current release, the Modi government has previously allocated ₹6,166.00 crore from SDRF to 14 states and provided logistic support, including the deployment of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams. A total of 104 NDRF teams are currently active across 21 states and union territories, focused on rescue and relief operations amid the ongoing monsoon season.
